Hi Mahesh,
You can connect to your system using the telnet console: telnet :5xx00
Review the logs in the work directory to find possible errors which may explain the problem with the visual. If the J2EE has some kind of problem, the visual admin may be unable to connect.
And finally verify the P4 bindhost as described in the note.

Hi Desiree,
The bind value is 0.0.0.0m as described in the sapnote. The port we are using to connect is 11111. And we are able to connect to http://<hostname>:11111.
Below is the http port mentioned in configtool uder http
(Port:11111,Type:http)(Port:55101,Type:ssl)
Please suggest.

Hi Mahesh,
Firstly, to check whether j2ee engine is up and running or not. Various ways - I'll mention some here:
1) You could go to <j2ee engine>\work directory and check dev_dispatcher & dev_server0 file and check for the word 'running'.
2) you could use jcmon in the profile directory as :
jcmon pf=<instance profile>
when you go into cluster administration (option 20), and then use option 1), it shows u the status of all the processes. You may have to scroll up or make the window size bigger.
3) Use Telnet/Visual Admin as Desiree suggested or http to the j2ee homepage. These two tools only allow you to logon successfully if engine is up.
Now in your case, since you are able to access the j2ee home page, your engine is up.
Can you please click on the 'System information' on the home page and see if you can logon using the j2ee administrator
user? That way you'll confirm if the user/pwd combinations is not the issue.
In dual stack, its j2ee_admin user and in single stack it is administrator.
The error that you are facing while logging onto VA is :
com.sap.engine.services.security.exceptions.BaseLoginException: Cannot create new RemoteLoginContext. at com.sap.engine.services.security.remote.login.RemoteLoginContext.(RemoteLoginContext.java:65) at com.sap.engine.services.adminadapter.gui.tasks.LoginTask.connectAction(LoginTask.java:97) at com.sap.engine.services.adminadapter.gui.tasks
Please ensure that you are using the right hostname/IP adress, administrator user & p4 port (you can check this in dev_dispatcher file reg what is the current p4 port).
Check if you use the following command at the OS level:
telnet <host> <p4 port> then if it connects successfully or not. Connecting successfully here would mean showing an empty prompt. If the port is not listening that means telnet will come back with refused connection.
Another way to check if this port is listening @ this IP/Host is by using 'netstat -an' command.
If you continue to face issues, you should also check visual admin traces as well as latest defaultrace from each server node.
Hope this helps.

Hi Orkun,
I was carrying out a support package upgrade. But in between we had an issue and we restored the system by restoring the PRT under usr/sap. After restore we are facing this issue. We have not restored the DB yet.
Is there any problem with the restoration we had or the complete application is not restored properly?
How I can proceed now? Kindly suggest.
Regards,
Mahesh.N.R
Hi Mahesh,
I understand that you just restored file structure but not db. There are two ways I can recommend to you;
1) check log files "/usr/sap/<SID>/JC<Instance #>/j2ee/cluster/server<x>", "/usr/sap/<SID>/JC<Instance #>/j2ee/cluster/bootstrap" and "/usr/sap/<SID>/JC<Instance #>/j2ee/cluster/dispatcher" and try to fix the problems step by step.
2) Complete your restore operation with db. It should be solve your problem.
Best regards,
Orkun Gedik
Hi Orkun,
We have restored the Db. I have tried to telnet the host as below
telnet 10.123.0.66 55108
Below is the out put
dev01:prtadm 13% telnet 10.123.0.66 55108

I have started the Upgrade with the below steps.
*I have started the installation again with the Host dev01 and port
21212...by starting sapinst under /usr/sap/PRT/sppacks/SAPINST-
CD/SAPINST/UNIX/SUNOS_64
*I have my package files under /usr/sap/PRT/sppacks/
I*n the beginning I selected the profile from the below path.
/usr/sap/PRT/SYS/profile/PRT_JC51_dev01
*Next its asking for the SAPinst cd/dvd I am
providing /usr/sap/PRT/sppacks/J2EE-RUNT-CD
*Then jdk under /usr
*Import support packages for additional components ....I am not
selecting the checkbox
*Next prerequisites check fine...
*Then start
*SAPinst starts with the phase Patching j2ee engine, check
prerequisites, check prerequisites installation, j2ee engine
installation, SDM installation/upgrade
*Then again its asking for SAPINST CD/DVD ....and asking to browse the
package.......which package I have to select or which folder.....
its saying No package defined by matched(look for label WEBAS-J2EE-
PATCH)......
Kindly suggest.
Thanks in advance
Hi Mahesh,
Sorry for my late answer, because of the 1 week vacation in Turkey. Could you check trace files under your log directory. Possibly, J2EE server is not able to connect UME and cannot validate one of the authentication mechanism in the stack.
So, under this circumstance open an OSS message.
Best regards,
Orkun Gedik
Hi Mahesh,
Have you verified whether the J2EE is running properly?
Also, check the P4 bindhost definition. SAP note 609603 may be useful here.

Désiré

Hi,
This may be produced by the restricted load balance. When all the server nodes are excluded from the loadbalancing system, the dispatcher does not send any HTTP or P4 requests.
To resolve this issue, check note 1036371 - HTTP and P4 connections to J2EE Engine are impossible
1) Execute the ConfigTool
2) Get to Instance_ID -> Servers Debug
3) See if the "Restricted load balance" is checked. Uncheck it.
4) Save the changes and restart the whole cluster.
Best regards,
Désiré

Hi Desiree,
I have already checked the mentioned SAP note and as i mentioned in the above msg the restricted load balance is not checked for the server or the instance . I have restarted the server(standalone) but still its not working. I am still getting the same error.
Thanks,
Kindly suggest.
