Former Member

I tried to install SAP ERP 6 EHP4 ready on HPUX 11.31 with DB2 9.7.

But it stopped on step update database registry with following error:

FSL-04008 Unable to access application /db2/db2ead/sqllib/adm/db2set. No such file or directory

Already searched on SAP Notes but no luck.

Please help.

Regards,

Fendhy

I usually check for full file systems first.

What do you have your /tmp environment variable set as?

I recently saw a new ERP install on AIX w/ db2 error when the install directory ( /tmp ) was not set as 777 for the file permissions.

No help, i didnt mean to do system copy installation.

Just a fresh install, central instance installation.

db2ilist command showed that instance already there... so i think i dont need to create instance again.

Hi,

A few things to check:

Are you running sapinst as root?

The DB2 installation requires that the following be set:

INSTHOME=/db2/db2<sid>

HOME=/db2/db2<sid>

If you have not already done so, start again setting home directory

/db2/db2<sid>

for the DB2 user (as specified in the installation manual).

This should give you the SAP standard environment.

Perhaps sqllib was there from before and installation did not try the db2icrt to create the instance. If it tried and any problem occurred, then you should get db2icrt.log in /tmp directory. Can you check if it is there?

If it is, what error is displayed?

Additional information

This installation is a reinstall after i got error on abap import phase. So i decide to reinstall from scratch.

Steps i took:

1. Uninstall using sapinst

2. Delete all user, all directory leaved by sap uninstall program

3. Install again from scratch, but then i stuck in update database registry step.

I think maybe its caused by unclean uninistallation from previous installation, so i try to install using different SID and DBSID.

And Its worked, and pass the update database registry step.

My next question is, how i can i perform a clean uninstall of SAP installation in HPUX and DB2 environment?

Hi,

I found this thread because I had the same problem.

SAPinst is failing on :

step update database registry with following error:

FSL-04008 Unable to access application /db2/db2<SID>/sqllib/adm/db2set. No such file or director

and upon further inspection, there is no sqllib directory created ...

Steps i took:

1. Uninstall using sapinst

2. Delete all user, all directory leaved by sap uninstall program

3. Install again from scratch, but then i stuck in update database registry step.

So another step you can add to the manualy cleanup is to check this directory

/var/db2/

and remove this file

global.reg

If you check the contents of this file, you'll find that it references directories of old db2 installations etc.

So when I removed this file I was able to keep the same SID and complete SAPinst...

Kind Regards,

Chris

Never touch /var/db2/global.reg manually.

Before you try reinstalling an instance, make sure it is no longer recognized by DB2.

• As root: <db2 software path>/instance/db2ilist – List existing database instances

• As root: <db2 software path>/instance/db2idrop db2<sid> - Remove selected database instance

Once this is done and you no longer see your instance upon issuing a db2ilist command, you can proceed with your reinstallation of the instance.
