SAP dies after restart on windows 7 client

Hey Everyone,

I have a stumper, One of my clients running 8.8 PL10 got a new client computer with windows 7. Everything went just fine with the installation as admin. and all add-ons and SAP were working great. However the next day when the client turned the computer on SAP would not login, the database selection screen would appear and then after user name and password entry the system would just freeze up and never complete the login, no error message or dump files.

I tried a fresh DI API install to no avail and ultimately ended up uninstalling and re-installing. After the re-install everything worked great again. Great problem solved.. until the next morning that is.. so long story short as long as the computer is not restarted or shut down SAP runs great.

The user is an Admin on the machine. Windows 7 is fully patched an up to date exactly the same as 5 computers in my office (Same Version) that all run without issue.

Any ideas??

My company had an isssue with dissapearing scroll bars in many of the windows in B1. I think PL 16 fixes that problem.

For your networking issue with the DB make sure you have win 7 pro or higher as the network drivers act funky when it comes to software that has to connect to a server as for some odd reason in the home versions. Also I suggest a 32 bit windows system as SAP b1 does have problems with 64 bit systems. We had to virtualize our server to run as a 32 bit version of windows as connections to the SQL server would drop randomly when using B1 2007. I think this issue is not fixed in any other version of B1 as in the download market place it says win32 on the download links from 2005 to 8.81

Hi,

1. If you use kaspersky or mc afee as antivirus, set the B1 into the trust zone.

2. Regularly scan your PC

3. if your use win 7 64 bit, the patch level doesn't support yet because its bugs of PL10

4. if you have reinstalled but the issue happened again, it is not the connection or antivirus but the OS compatibility with B1 not exists. Reinstalled the window 7 and use window 7 prof, ultimate or enterprise edition. Other than those, you can't run SBO very well

Ping it once and then restart it......
