Users Can't Access Universes in Desk but can in Webi

Looking for help on the following:-

Permissions work perfectly in Webi - User can select a Live or Test Universe and create a webi report from it.

However those with the Deski client - the Universe selection button is greyed out with the run Deski on their machines.

So they can't select the LIve or Test Universe to create the report from.

I have created 2 Groups LIVE and TEST,

Assigned Users to the Groups

Created 2 folders for the Universes LIVE and TEST, loaded the Universes

Given access to the LIVE group to the LIVE Universe folder.

I got a fix from another source here it is, thanks for your help....

1. Log into Central Management Console (CMC)

2. Click Business Objects Enterprise Applications>>Desktop Intelligence

3. Click Advanced for the Group to which the user belongs to

4. Explicitly Grant the following rights Edit Queries, Use Queries and Data Provider Manipulation

Hi There - still not working...

1. I deleted the Universes stored locally, then to re-import the Universes there are 5.

2. Gave Designer privileges to the User so could import all Universes in one go.

3. I imported all the Live Universes, interesting when I imported the Univerese - error message Universe Connection Not Accessible.

4. Selected File Parameters and selected the Live connection to the database and tested connection (all 5 universes)

5. Selected File, Save All (to store locally).

6. Went into Deski as the User but the Universes button is still greyed out so still cannot select any Universes

Hey Catriona,

Selected File, Save All (to store locally).

Instead of doing Save, can you try Exporting to Repository and Working on it for DeskI reporting, for testing purpose.

This way we can see what is happening.

Did you try to Import Universes and usethem in DeskI??
