Hi SAP BASIS GURUS,

Is it possible to move extended table space to another drive? My issue is that the storage drive(contains tablespace) has only 15mb of free space because of autogrow. I have a new drive to extend the tablespace. I know how to extend my worry is that how to free up space in my 15MB freespace drive. Im planning to move some tablespace but i dont know whether it is possible.

Details:

OS: windows 2003

DB: oracle

SAP: 4.6D

Please help.

Thanks and regards,

Joel

there is 2 ways

1 move datafile on new drive

2 switch off autoextend on datafile in this tablespace and add datafile on new drive

Hi Joel,

What you have asked in your question is possible. Tablespace is a logical entity and contains Datafiles which may be present in any of the available drives.

What is your oracle DB version. You can perform this operation using BRTOOLS but before doing that, please ensure to upgrade your BRTOOLS to the latest version.

Good Luck.

Hi Joel,

Let me know your oracle version.

Tablespace export/Import can be done to free up the space from existing drive.

Hi Joel,

Its veru much possible to move datafile using brtools, So you can move existing file from one drive to another using brtools, you may need to consider upgrade of brtools before doing this , as its always better to use latest brtools
