how to required/mandatory for profit center & business area field in automatic general ledger account in simple finance

For any G/L Account (Can be a Manual Posting G/L or Automatic Posting G/L), the screen layout is Account Group which we assign in the FS00 in the "Create/Bank Interest" Tab.

The same Account Group can be modified using the T-code OBC4 for making Profit Center and BA mandatory or optional or suppressed.

For assigning a default Profit center and Business Area to a G/L Account, use OKB9.

In addition to point mentioned by nkonnipati please also make sure that you have these fields at least as optional in OB41 for posting key configuration.
