While adding instance SCS00: An instance already exists with that number

During the install of Solution Manager 7.01 (Oracle/UNIX Solaris SPARC) I am recieving the following:

"While adding instance SCS00: An instance already exists with that number and a different name or SAPSID: "

I ran the uninstaller (thru SAPInst)and also referred to note 1229586 but to no avail.

What am I missing? Thanks.

Hi,

May be cleanup of /etc/services file will do this, have you tried with other instance number ?

Edit the /usr/sap/sapservices file and either remove or comment the lines that points to 00 instance number.

Take a backup of the file before change if you need it for reference.

Thanks to all for taking the time to respond. Never found what was the root cause of the issue. We ended up starting over from the ground up with OS group providing a "pristine" server. Seemed to do the trick.

Hello

It seems there is another separated system with different SID on the same host, and there has been already an SCS instance

with system number 00.

So if you are installing the second system, please choose different system nubmer for the SCS instance.

Thanks
