SessionTimeout change - Portal restart required?

Former Member

Dear forum,

I have been changing configtool /cluster/services/web container SessionTimeout to a negative value to remove automated logout / timeout of sessions. For the changes to take effect do I need to restart the portal or can it be done with restarting a service in the portal?

Its a production portal so I would like to avoid restart of it.

Thanks in advance,

Soren

Hello to both of you,

Thanks a lot for your swift replys! as my cluster is a bit messy at the moment I will schedule a portal restart most likely in the weekend.

Thanks again,

Kind Regards,

If you have multiple application servers (DI) then you can restart one by one using your load balancing. Deactivate one server from load balancing and then check for active users, if there are none then you can simply perform the restart. After restart again add this server your load balancing, repeat this procedure for all servers. This way you can avoid your outage on your prodcution system.
