Hi All,

I have a requirement like...

1. Opening stock for Items (Pipes in my case) are taken in Pcs.

2. These pipes are sold in Meter (6 mtr, 3mtr etc..)

3. While doing A/R Invoice there should be like 20pcs of pipe 6 mtr each i.e. (20 * 6) = 120mtr of pipe sold.

4. Selling price is in per mtr value.

How to handle it stepwise from scratch ?

Regards,

Rupa Sarkar

Hi Rupa,

In your case keep Mtr as Inventory Uom and Pcs as Sales Uom.

Thanks

In this case, the inventory UoM has to be meter, not pcs because in your case 1 pcs != 1 pcs

Hi Rupa.....

I Guess Your Inventory as well as Sales UOM should be in Mtr and Purchase UOM in Pcs....

Hi All,

Inventory stock is taken as Pcs (How many 6mtr pipes are there in my inventory?). While selling in there are the following fields

1. Quantity in Pcs

2. Quantity in mtr

3. Rate per mtr

4. Amount

Hi Rupa,

Set Mtrs as Inventory Uom and pcs as Sales unit ( set conversion factor in "Items per sales unit" e.g. 1 pcs = 6 mtrs then 6 in Items per sales unit). When you are going to do Delivery activate "Inventory UoM" field there is dropdown of Yes/No. You have to select yes in that so your inventory will reduce in mtrs and sale will be in pcs.

Thanks

What i am thinkin is that in

1. Item master data -> Inventory data->Inventory UOM ->pcs

2. Item master data ->Sales data->Sales UOM->m , Length->6m

3. Items per sales unit-> 0.16667

Hi Rupa.....

Try this.....

Go to Item Master Data Purchasing Data Tab

Purchasing UoM=Pcs

Items per Purchase Unit=20

Packaging UoM (Purchasing)=Mtr.

Quantity per Packaging UoM=1

Update these details in Item Master data.

Do GRN and put 6Pcs in Qty. Once you do GRN check the Inventory of this particular Item.

It will show you 120 instock because you updated these details in Item Master...

Dear Rupa,

The simple solution on this is you have to make new Item for every different length. like.

1. Pipes 6 mtrs - Inventory & Sales uom as Pcs - Price per Pcs

2. Pipes 5 mtrs - Inventory & Sales uom as Pcs - Price per Pcs

This way you will get the different prices as per lengthwise also & you can manage stock in mtrs and in Pcs as well.

Hi Rupa.....

You can use Purchasing UOM as Pcs and Sales UOM in Mtr.

You have to build relation ship in Purchase UOM to Sales UOM....

Hi Rupa Sarkar,

No matter how many UoM do you have, you need a basic UoM for inventory. In your case, it seems PCS is your inventory and equal to 6 meters. Is this correct assumption?

Thanks,
