I would like to know what the difference is between maintaining ECM for a BOM or not and just looking at the Change Documents ?
I can still see the History and what changed on the BOM changes why would I want to implement ECM ?
It seems to give me the same information?
I am not sure that link fully answers what I am getting at......
Is the difference only that ECM gives you a process to manage the changes because from a data perspective that can be gained from the change docs in CS03 or Audit Trails.
I can understand that gives control but wondered if there was something more ?

Dear Milton,
In Audit Trails which you have mentioned using AUT10,the changes made can be seen, but is it possible to identify where from
the change was requested? For what reason this particular change was made?
If I'm correct if the BOM's are maintained by a central agency say Engineering dept the change may occur from Engineering
side or say production side or based on quality monitoring some changes has been proposed or from the sales front,,but
incorporating these changes /request into the BOM is a management or some business decision.
So atleast these processes can be started and closed properly using ECM.
We cannot make any BOM changes for a future date in the BOM without a change number .
This is is my understanding about the changes made in the BOM using ECM.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

S Mangalraj
