Drill Filters?

Hello Experts,

I have a report where there is some drilling in it. In the report there are upward pointing arrows all throughout, and also there is a drill filter pane showing any drill filters present. I know that if I turn drill mode off all of the arrows and drill filter pane go away. I want to be able to show the drill filter pane, but not the arrows that are in every column and every cell within the report. These arrows are covering some of the values, and it just doesnt look nice. The client likes that the drill filter pane is showing the dimensions with a dropdown menu, therefore I simply cannot just turn the drill mode off. Is there anyway to just display the drill filter pane and not the arrows?

I would really appreciate some advice on this.

Thanks in advance,

Niraj

    Hey Niraj...,

    here you go,

    @Universe:

    You have been set Custom Hierarchies, Am I correct??

    YES, then it is default behavior.

    @Report:

    When you click on Drill bar, obviously we will get pipe icon at column headers.

    Solution:

    Remove custom hierarchies and Export Universe. Then when you drag Objects to Drill bar, you will not get any pipe icon.

    Enjoy 😊 😊

    Gracias...!!

    Do you want to drill by double clicking in a value or is it enough to use drop down menus to filter the data in your report (NOTE: but with no cascading functionality as for the drill filters)?

    Removing the hierarchies will disable the drill option for all reports based on your universe. This is not necessary.

    If you are using XI 3.1 then you can activate the Report filter toolbar and deactivate the Drill mode. YOu can then add objects into the report filter area. These will appear as drop down menus and you can use them to limit your data. Still no drill functionality will be available. This means that it won't be possible to double click on a dimension object (belonging to a hierarchy) and see the next level of the hierarchy. If you won't to preserve this functionality it is not possible to supress the down up arrows which are displayed once the users drill.

    Normally the arrows should appear only in the headers of your tables though. What kind of tables do you use?

    Regards,

    Stratos

      Hello Stratos/BOCP-BOE,

      Thank you for your responses!

      The problem I have is that I do not have access to the universe, so I am unable to see/change how these objects are being exported to BOXI.

      What I did as a workaround was, I created variables based on the exact objects then dragged these variables into the report, because we cannot drill up/down on variables. I was able to keep the 'Drill Filter Pane' in the report while drill mode is on, and no arrows are showing(object was not underlined anymore).

      @ Stratos, I am using horizontal tables in the report on BOXI r2, puzzling why the arrows are in all of the cells rather than just the headers!

      Thanks again for your time and help. I will leave it unsanwered till end of day incase someone sees any ill-effect my workaround may pose. Points have been assigned to both!

      Thanks,

      Niraj
