Crystal Suddenly Closing When Inserting

I am encountering a problem that has not occured over the pasat several years of working in Crystal. I am woriking in a stand-alone version which suddenly closes when i click to insert into a report, Or if i drag a formula or other database item to the worksheet. I have updated and installed all ptches. Anyone had this problem?

Have you tried uninstalling the old version and installing the R2? Might help, not sure.

As to your problem:

1) Does it occur in a couple of specific reports or in all?

2) Does it occur on some D&D and insert actions within those reports or on all of them?

3) A while ago I had a lot of crashes in CR2008 while having the main window placed on my secondary display. Though I got serious error prompts, I wouldn't be surprised if your problem is caused by the same thing, assuming you're working in dual screen. (Which you probably aren't.)

Other that with those questions, I can't offer any help.

What is your OS?

Have you tried doing a repair install?

Any error in the event Viewer when CR closes?

Are you a local PC Admin and/or belong to the Admin group?

Has your IT guys pushed out any changes to your local Profile?

Any Anti-virus or firewall blocks been noted in their logs?

mmmm... Download Crystal Report XI Release 2 Service Pack 4 full build and use your CR XI keycode, free upgrade.

Then install Service Pack 6 and test again.

Thanks for the help. I downloaded XI V2 and i keep getting an error when i download SP 6. "Crystal Report SP6 is for Crystal Report X1R2 only and cannot be installed on top of other Business Objects XIR2 productss"

Ah, It may be looking for SP 5 first. I thought it would install on top of SP 4 but it is a partial build so it could be looking for SP 5 first.
