Like stated in the above post, you will have start with creation of info object in RSA1 or RSD1 and then include that key figure in the planning area and subsequently in the planning book and data view.
If you are using SCM 4.1 or below that the planning area needs to be deinitialised before you can add a new key figure in the planning area. Hence it is imperative that you take a back up of the planning area before you proceed to add the key figure.
However, if you are on SCM 5.0 or above, then initialization is not necessary.
Also assign a suitable category group to the key figure if you are planning to add an order series key figure.
You need to follow the above process to add a new key figure. Try this out in the quality or test system first before you do this activity in the live environment.
