Hi All,

I have list of parameters for which SAP has recomended the values to be changed.I want understand what are we changing and why are we changing to a particular value.

We have 3 dialog instances and a central instance.

For the dialog instance sap has recomended the following.

abap/buffersize Program buffer size 1200000 1560000

rsdb/ntab/ftabsize Data area size for field description buffer 140000 182000

rsdb/obj/buffersize Size of export/import buffer 150000 240000

rtbb/buffer_length Size of single record table buffers 84500 110000

zcsa/table_buffer_area Size of generic table buffer 219700000 285610000

ztta/short_area Size of short-term memory 3200000 4000000

ztta/max_memreq_MB Memory for a single call 256 <To be deleted>

icm/keep_alive_timeout Network Connection Keep Alive Timeout 60 90

rdisp/vbreorg Delete uncompleted update requests 1 <To be deleted>

For the central instance

abap/buffersize Program buffer size 800000 1040000

zcsa/table_buffer_area Size of generic table buffer 160000000 208000000

ztta/short_area Size of short-term memory 3200000 4000000

ztta/max_memreq_MB Memory for a single call 256 <To be deleted>

icm/keep_alive_timeout Network Connection Keep Alive Timeout 60 90

rdisp/vbreorg Delete uncompleted update requests 1 <To be deleted>

Hello please let me know what info my side i should be giving since it would be impossible to predict what would be best suitable for me unless one knows the hardware.

You can check the current SAP memory utilization by executing blow OS command

sappfpar check pf=<instance profile>

make sure you have no errors and depends on the above command result you can change the parameters. Change the parameters suggested by SAP and again re-run above command and see the difference.

Your "sappfpar check" is good.

If you ran this check after changing the values to SAP recommended values, then just take a restart of SAP and your changes will be in effect.

If you need further help on the values check this link -

hm! can you please change the parameters suggested by SAP and agan re-run above checks?

Try to modify parameters via RZ10 then you can easily revert all then changes using version management.

Hi,

I hope the value suggestions have come in as a part of EWA report.

These values are suggested depending upon the system resources and the load the on the system.

I do not have the exact calculations on how SAP arrives at these values. But a deep study of the system and the parameter can provide those calculations which are pre configred in the EWA.

Cheers.....,

Raghu

SAP has internal tool to calculate standared values depends on your current system configuration.

Hi Ambarish,

Can you first tell us, by what reason you have came to the conclusion for making changes in the SAP parameter ???

Above parameter which you have written are mostly related to buffer.

Thanks

Anil
