Is there a way to remove default root from Action drop down?

Hi Experts,

Just wanted to know if there is a way to remove the "default root" selection from the Action drop down. Since we have made changes so managers see only their direct reports and the org units that report to them, this selections gives them the ability to see the entire org structure starting from the CEO. Obviously, we don't want to give them this ability. I have checked the admin console in STVN 2.1. There is no preference to remove this feature.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Michael, I assume this is Orgchart?

Please make sure to backup before changing.

In Appresources.xml, remove the hardcoded root number. This should be in orgchart name="SAPOrgUnitOrgChart"

Your default root type should be user now.

And I suspect there is a hardcoded rootnumber in rootvalue. Please delete that 8-digit hardcoded ID.

Reset the web.config or IIS and please give that a try, let us know if it works for you. I successfully tested this on my test system.

Thank you

Jus curious to know how you are handling stopping users from searching to finder other OUs or positions them using View In action to visualise?

I believe you could apply additional security configuration if you are using Nakisa roles to control security or backend SAP structural auths if applicable.

Hi Stephen, you bring up a valid concern.

The recommended approach is to set up structural authorizations in the backend to prevent the user from accessing and viewing records outside his/her span of control.

If this is not possible, then, after enabling the dynamic rooting (start at user's root), I recommend disabling the 'View in Position Hierarchy' link configuration. You should be able to do this through admin console. This way, the user can access other records through the listings, but won't have the possibility of Viewing in orgchart.

I hope this helps,

Thank you
