(CS) "Bad Connect String Format : PASSWORD" . (WIS 10901)

I get the error (CS) "Bad Connect String Format : PASSWORD" . (WIS 10901) when I run/create a report against an Oracle universe.

Im connecting from a different domain and using Single Sign On.

When I connect as an Enterprise user, I dont have any issues even from a different domain.

Any help on this is highly appreciated.

Using Business Objects XI 3.1 on Windows 2008 Server and Oracle 10g on AIX 5.3

Thanks

Siva

Are you using LDAP SSO with Siteminder?

No other Authentication except AD.

Siteminder Single Sign On is disabled

<context-param>

<param-name>siteminder.enabled</param-name>

<param-value>false</param-value>

</context-param>

- Im not sure how to setup Universe Connection to use SSO

Update: I dont have any issues with a user of native domain(where BO is setup). SSO works, user can run the report, create a report.

Thanks

Siva,

looks SSO is not enabled for that Universe. It's using single User credentials.

Where to see SSO??

1. Open Designer

2. Open Oracle Universe

3. Go to Universe Parameters

4. Click on Connection == Edit

5. See there SSO is used or User Name and Password.(Specific Users's)

6. If not SSO, change it to SSO.

7. Export it and develop reports.

Hope it helps you.

Thank You!!

We dont have SSO on Oracle.

So a Single User credentials are used in Universe Connection.

It(SSO) works fine for the users of native domain.

But other domain users cant run a report.

Single User credentials are used in Universe Connection.

>> That is the problem. Log on to CMC, Assign rights to Users whom want to use that Universe.

Assign security for the Users on Connections and Universes. (Those want to share)

Hope you got it.

Thank You!!

Are you sure about that? Can you please open the universe in th euniverse designer and check the connection type? What is the setting there?

If the connection is set to use a fixed user name and password then this will be used no matter which user is runnning the report.

Thanks Stratos,

Yes, "Use specified username and password" is used. It works for all the users under native domain but not for users of other domain.

As suggested by BOCP-BOE, have updated the Universe n connection security in CMC by adding the second domain user group. But I have to wait until Monday to test. Will keep you all posted.

Thanks

What exactly do you mean by "other domain"?

You said that whne you login from another domain but with Enterprise authentication everything works. Do you use the WebI rich client to view the reports?

When I said 'other domain', its actually from a machine which is on a different domain.

The exact error I was getting was (CS) "Bad Connect String Format : PASSWORD" . (WIS 10901)

Finally, we are able to solve the issue.

I had a hint /@Variable('BOUSER')/ in the connection which was creating the issue. Report worked fine once I removed the hint. For some reason the variable isn't working in Hint for non native domain users.

Thanks for all your help guys.

Good job Siva Athuru.

@Variable: @Universe is useful to restrict the data access for User's for those who are accessing the specific Universe.

As a back-side we are not able to see that, so suggested you different ways to resolve it. Glad to hear it solved. Can you make it answered.

Gracias...!!

Let's play with Aurora (BOXI 4.0)
