Hi,
Currently we have a document system where the documents are located on respective servers and not everyone has access to these servers.
We are looking to set up a SAP content repository which can be centrally accessed by all. Is this possible? If so what are the steps to achieve it? Also I have following questions:
1) When I create a new document using cv01n when specifying the document to upload it will select something like C:\Windows\test.doc how will this be transferred to the repository once set up?
2) If I change the link of the document or if I update it, how will the copy on repository be updated?
Does ArchiveLink need to be setup or is this different from it? What is the key distinction in usage between ArchiveLink and DMS?
All answers very much appreciated and <<text removed by moderator>>

Hi Dhaval,
You need to install and use a separate content server for your documents. First install a content server , calculate the size required as per volume of all the documents ( from different servers as well as future volume upto 3-5 years). You need hardware first. For installation, it's a basis activity and you can download installation guides for content server from SAP Marketplace. Also you need to define new server in OAC0 and OACT.
Then with background program can transfer documents from different servers to this dms central server and your regular document can be stored in this server directly once defined.
Hope this wil help.
