Infotype 0302

We are all aware that on a single day we cannot execute two actives Hiring and Termination for an employee. Infotype0302 wont work. Because it has Impact on Employment status changes. Why cont we do this? Is there any time constraint for employment status? If so where we can check this ?

The reason it cannot be done is because employment status is stored only in IT 0000. It is not stored in IT 0302. IT 0000, along with being TCC1, has the limitation with the rest of the other infotypes where data can be stored only against a particular set of dates.

Therefore it would be impossible to record in IT 0000 if the employee was active for part of the day and inactive for the rest of the day.

SAP don't allow storing two infotypes of Time Constraint 1 with the same subtype on the same day...... because it would be delimitation date for both will be the same, in which case first one would be overwritten by the latter one. So it won't allow records which is changing the employment status on the same day....

From a Business Point of View, it does not make sense that an employee was hired and fired on the same day. Even if he managed that feat with some supreme level of incompetence, it means he did report for work and was on the company's rolls for one day, even if it was only for part of the day, and from the next day onwards he was no longer on the company's rolls. If he didn't turn up or was dismissed without doing any work, it can be deemed that he didn't join at all, and which case the hiring action, if already recorded is simply deleted. Therefore SAP functionality merely mirrors the reality, i.e Employee cannot be active AND inactive on the same day.

Can you explain the business requirement which makes you record two statuses on the same day?

    Hope this helps.
