Adding custom fields to product master screen in GTS

My basic requirement is to add a custom field on product master in SAP GTS. (/SAPSLL/PR_PRCON_XX tcodes. XX - 01, 02 or 03). I tried the following options.

1) I added a field of character 10 by defining the product characteristics with length 10 in SPRO under Customs products (basically added product attributes). The field is appearing on the selection screen of the tcode, but not in the output. The field is supposed to come under additional data tab under product master. I don't see the additional data tab after addition of the field. Not sure what I am missing.

2) I implemented BADI /SAPSLL/BADI_EXT_UI_PRD. Then added a text field in the screen 999 of /SAPSLL/PRODUCT_IFACE. (Product WB: User Interface). In the PBO method of BADI I am giving the program name and screen name. BUt teh screen does not appear in the product master.

I am new to GTS, can anyone help me solve this issue. Not sure what I am missing.
