combination of Scraps can be used at one time

Hai all

The three scraps Assembly scrap, Component Scrap and Opeation scrap can be used at one time simultaneously. Faced this question in a interview. what combinations can be used. Kindly explain in detail

    Dear

    All thise three type scrap can be used at a time .Basically , this will effect in your Materials Planning while MRP running based on the Scrap setting as per your business requirement .You may not be having all the material to be having only Assmbly screap or other two .It can be at Operational level , Assmbly level or duing componenets handling level .

    It will be better if you create a business scianario in sand box like you have one FG with Assmbly scrape in MRP1 VIEW , One crritical compoenets has scarep in BOM -Compoenets and one in Operation level -Operation detail screen.

    Now create the deamand , create BOM and run MRP , you will find different requirement quantity including scarp and same will be show up in your Production Order

    Hope this will gives an idea .Test it and analyse the result

    • Hi ,

      System will allow you to maintain all this 3 scrap% for a material.

      If you used Component scrap in Bill of Material,system will ignore the componnet Scrap mainatianed in material master.

      Also Operation scrap and Net Indicator in BOM plays major role in calculating scrap durring MRP.

      Case - 1:

      Assume that,you have maintained Assembly scrap in material master ,Componnet scrap and Operation scrap with net indicator in BOM.In this case system will ignore assembly scrap maintained in material master and consider both operation and componnet scraps.

      Case -2

      Assume that,you have maintained Assembly scrap in material master ,and Operation scrap with net indicator in BOM.In this case also system will ignore assembly scrap maintained in material master and consider only Operation scrap.

      Case-3:

      You have maintained Assembly scrap in material master ,and Componnet scrap with net indicator in BOM.In this case also system will ignore assembly scrap maintained in material master and consider only componnet scrap.

      Case -4

      Assume that,you have maintained Assembly scrap in material master and Componnet scrap without net indicator in BOM.In this case system will consider assembly scrap maintained in material master alsong with componnet scrap in BOM.

      Generally If you maintained "Net Indicator" system will Ignore assembly scrap.

    Hi,

    Assembly Scrap you maintain in Material Master MRP view of a material. (MRP 1 view). Usually maintained for Assemblies but not for components. If maintained then this will increase production order quantity of the assembly accordingly and requirement of all components used to produce the assembly accordingly.

    Component and Operation scrap you maintain in BOM, it is maintained for a particular component of an assembly in a BOM. If maintained then system will increase requirement quantity of a particular component when an order is generated but not the entire order quantity.

    It is left to you how you want to use different scraps. But if you are maintaining operation scrap for a component in BOM then Net Scrap indicator must be set (system requirement). If this indicator is set then assembly scrap if any maintained will be ignored by the system.

    Check in the system how it behaves by maintaining different scraps and creating orders.

    Yes, You can use all the scrap setting at one time

    For ex

    Header material A maintained 10 % assembly scrap in MRP 1 View

    Component B maintained 10 % component scrap, in MRP 4 view or in BOM

    & consider for operation 20, u have maintained scrap as 5 % and Component C is allocated to operation 20, in Routing, operation detail.

    IF the requirement comes for 100 EA

    After MRP run

    System plan

    A= 100+ (100*10/100 )= 110 ea

    for material B = 110+(110*10/100)=121

    for material C (OPERATION SCRAP IS MAINTAINED AS 5 %) = 110 +( 110*5/100) =115.5
