Hi Kumar,

Please notice that in SOLMAN_DIRECTORY you have options to copy the information from projects into solutions.

Please also check the relevant material in:

help.sap.com

service.sap.com/rkt-solman

Just search for the relevant data there for more theoretical and practical information.

Regards,

Daniel.

Daniel,

Thanks again for your reply. I got a quick questions? How important is the setup of the Solution Directory for Business Process Monitoring?

If I create a ASAP roadmap for an example SRM P2P (Procure to Pay). If all the document templates loaded and are using standard SAP document repository for business process mapping.

I believe you also use Aris tool map the business process and use some other tool for testing. Do we need to setup the solution directory for all of these?

When someone says they want to setup the Solution Directory for Production repository purpose? what are they exactly referring?

Any help much much appreciated.

Thanks

Kumar

Hi Kumar,

In the solution directory you can manage your solutions.

One of the challenges you face in production after completing a project successfully is preserving the knowledge gained from the project and keeping it up to date during operations. SAP Solution Manager's solution concept is designed to help you do this. A solution contains information about system, software components and business processes(scenarios), which you can transfer from your project to SAP Solution Manager. You thereby ensure that all of the information can still be accessed and consolidated further after the project has been completed.

You manage solutions in the Solution Directory. Solution offer the following advantages:

- All assignments in the SAP Solution Manager project are available;

- The scenario and business process structures are transferred to the solution;

- Configuration object assignments are readily available;

- You can use test cases in the structure to effectively test changes that have been made;

- You can reuse e-learning materials from projects in the solution;

- The solution has the same system landscape concept as the project, which means you can reuse the structure when upgrading.

Daniel.

Hi Daniel.

Thanks for your quick and valuable inputs. I am bit of still confused. For an example, if I am at customer side, if the ask me to if I have experiences in Solution Directory, I guess my answer would be no, but at the same time i want to present an overview of the Solution directory like what it can be used for and what you can achieve by having that?

If I go to the t-code: solman_directory now,

I see the following folder option under a solution:

Organizational Units

Master Data

Business Scenarios

Interface Scenarios

Product Systems

Server

What is the purpose of above components? this is my confusion.

Please and thanks

Kumar

Hi Kumar,

I'm affraid I cannot answer all of your questions, but I'll try my best on what I know.

The "Master Data" refers to data that is shared between solutions(same systems and logical components) and there is also the transaction data, which is related to a specific solution. A business scenario for example.

A business scenario is exactly what the name means, it contains business processes within itself, which contains business steps related to that particular process/scenario.

The "Product systems" are the systems contained in that solution. The same goes for the servers.

Hope this can help you a little more.

Daniel.

Hi,

For the transaction SOLMAN_DIRECTORY, you can see and maintain all your defined solutions.

You change the leading navigation role for each solution, search for documents across all Solutions or Projects.

You can also modify the landscape and system assignment to Solutions which is navigated to this transaction via SOLUTION_MANAGER also.

Most importantly, you can assign a business process structure to the Solution rather than project in this transaction.

You can build this manually or use the business process repository.

Hope this helps,

-Rohan
