Hey Guys,
Believe it or not i L.O.V.E video games & currently i'm having an affair with FIFA11(of course SDN still holds on to it's place).
Is anyone hooked on to PS3 / XBOX or lemme rephrase anyone hooked to video games?
Eagerly awaiting for enthusiatic responses
BR,
Suhas
PS3 with 32" Sony Bravia LED, packed with Sony Home Theatre System, I just love my Gaming Station with Surround sound.
I just love God of War and FIFA11.
Call of Duty and Assassins Creed II hold a special place in my life.

Now now, people. Play nice.
I don't just play video games, I like board games and card games, too. And I don't think there is one kind "better" than the other. It's just preference and also opportunity IMO.

I learned Texas Hold'em the first time I was in the USA some years ago. ^^ But since then I had little chance to play it with real opponents. Buuut I played alot (and I mean alot) in Red Dead Redemption. I just loved the atmosphere in the different locations.
Chess, I played that, too, when I was much younger. Even on the computer, but IMO that's more fun (like all board games and cards) with real opponents, not a KI. But nontheless I still remember the fun I had with "Battle Chess". *g*
Battle chess hahahah! You're showing your age!! And so am I The animations were so funny hahaha! Boy what a nostalgic trip right now
I'm gauging interest for Texas Holdem here at my office... I have a semi-professional suitcase with poker chips, dealer button and whatnot... back in Paris I managed to have a poker night organized once per month more or less... let's see what I can do here I think it's a great way to socialize, buy some pizza, beer/whatever's your preference, and play some poker through the night
But we're going off-topic here! Is anyone getting GTA V for the PC when it comes out? We should meet online I can't wait to see how GTA online is going to be, I have the feeling it's going to be friggin awesome
Well I still use my old PS2

No PS3 or XBOX for me yet...but spend my leisure time by playing Chess in facebook. This keeps me busy most of my Saturdays.

I do a bit my friend...might not be an expert like you I had played some PC games like hitman series splinters cell etc..
Chess is totally at another level...don't think you have played chess...I recommend we have this discussion at another place as I don't want to preach Chess on a discussion started for video games.
I did play Chess. I even took "lessons" from Chessmaster 9000 back in the day. I still know some common opening moves, like the Indian opening blah blah...
Chess is a board game... video games are video games. They are just different kinds of games, for different kinds of people. There is none that is more than the other, it is a matter of personal opinion and taste.

Bruno
Am a die hard fan of Video games since my child hood.
And they motivate me while ABAP coding
HOW ??
Whenever I am stuck with a bit complex problem and I feel that this thing is nowhere possible , this is really tough , what to do ,,,,,,,
I just try to spare some time and play a game ( that's why my best productive time is after 5:30 pm ) and feel how difficult would be to code these super intelligent Programs.
My gaming Devices yet :
1. TV Connected Video Game ( used to enter cartridge )
2. My Laptop ( Favorite titles Max Payne 2 ( the way Havoc Physics works ) and NFS MW 2005 ( I still love this very much , Fav. vehicle Lambo Murcielago )
3. PSP Go
Currently using ,
Nexus 4
Gaming Specs
Graphics Card Adreno 320
Fav. games Asaphalt 8 and Dead Space
will buy Modern Combat 4 : Zero Hour soon.
Oh, how could I have missed this thread? oO Now we can stop in the comments of my blog and continue here.
What I have:
Gameboy Color, SNES, xBox, PS2, xBox360, 3DS, a Notebook
And my current list of games I play (and try to finish):
L.A. Noire (xBox360)
Virtue's Last Reward (3DS)
Portal 2 (Notebook)
Phoenix Wright 1 (3DS)
Darksiders 1 (xBox360)
Walking Dead Season 1 (xBox360)
The Witcher 1 (Notebook)
I switch between games, when I'm getting bored or stuck, so that's why I have so many there. ^^ I'm also working towards the 100% completion of Red Dead Redemption, but I have finished the story and almost all of the other stuff. I'm at over 98% there.

Most of my gaming time(when I have the time) is now on the iPad. The Wii is gone from lack of usage, and occasionally I will fire up the XBOX for a quick game of Madden or Forza but what drives me crazy and makes me not want to fire up the xbox are all the required updates pushed out by Microsoft that severly eat into the hour of time that I may have to game on occassion.
Amazingly I realized that I have manged to buy crazy taxi for every platform that I currently own which means iPhone, iPad, xbox 360 and game boy advance. I then realized how much better the same game(graphics) is on the iPhone compared to the GBA, and how my iPhone/iPad replaced a lot of things I used to carry when I traveled full-time.
Take care,
Stephen
Heh, you reminded me, another game I play whenever I'm stuck in public somewhere is Carmaggedon on my nexus 4 Best time killer (pun intended) ever!
I wish they would also port the second one! I wouldn't be too much surprised if they were working on it seeing how popular the first one is in the downloads!!
Never heard of Carmageddon?? Well... it was forbidden in a few countries back in the day it was released for the PC... so I guess maybe it was forbidden in Germany as well... In Portugal we don't care about traumatizing the children's fragile little minds haha!
Luckily I think I turned out ok(ish)
Graphic novel... hmm... I guess the problem with that would be what I mentioned before... Now I look more for instant gratification. So for the phone it definitely has to be one of those guys that you pick it up, you don't need to remember where you were, you don't have to remember where you were going to... with Carmageddon I just run over some pedestrians and smash other cars for 15 minutes and that's it
When I was living in Paris and taking the subway everyday to work I was also a big fan of Where's My Water and Cut the Rope. They're the "classic" puzzle type games, very nice time killers!
Yeah, I had to get back into the story, since I last played it some 2 or 3 month ago, but now I'm hooked again. ^^ I don't like to play action games on such a little screen. That's what I have my nice big TV screen at home for. Also I'm not the person, who can (or wants to) sit still during action sequences, so I would probably annoy the other passengers.
I don't think Carmageddon was forbidden here, but I don't know all games, that are published in Germany. ^^ So it's no wonder I never heard of that one. It sounds like a trimmed version of a GTA mission. Or Crazy Taxi. Playing something like that while using public transport, I'd definitly scare some people. *g*
EDIT: I just googled the two mentioned puzzle games. They sound like fun, but my old Nokia doesn't even know how to write "Games". That's okay though, I have enough other devices to play games, my phone does other jobs for me. ^^
Hehe! Well... it may look like a trimmed version of other games now... but you have to keep in mind that this game was released at the time of Sega Rally (the first one, heh?) and Daytona... This was the first "open world" car game ever created, with a true damage physics engine... well I guess this would mainly be popular with boys heh?
So I guess it has special nostalgic value for me. I've "tried" to show it to some other friend gamers of mine and they don't seem to enjoy it that much But for me it's actually the only game I have on my phone at the moment!
So! You have this thread heh?
Here's my contribution!
Currently playing:
Portal 2,
Rocksmith.
On the wish list for this year:
GTA5 (any GTA game is a must have imo! apparently the map in this one is just HUGE, so I'm definitely curious about it. also have an xbox controller for the PC waiting for it ),
Battlefield 4 (battlefield 3 had me dropping my jaw on the floor with that realistic imaging... if the 4th is any better it must be freaking awesome),
Rocksmith 2014,
maybe replay Rome Total War a little, if I'm feeling like commanding armies one thousand strong again?
Anyways, when it comes to football (or soccer, depending on where you're from), I'm a pro evolution soccer fan myself, sorry. Ahh... the eternal rivalry between fifa and pes fans... I guess it's like cheering for your team... but for a game instead lol!
Cheers!!

It's PS + FIFA + Liverpool. Always, forever
I played PES on my PC till 2010, it was so much better than FIFA. But once i had my PS3 i could not think of anything other than FIFA. I hate that PES doesn't have licenses to clubs & since i support Liverpool i just s**ks not to play with them....
Cheers,
Suhas
Suhas,
I play the old one - FIFA98 on PC - which is better?

I neither have a PS3 nor an XBox... but i have a PSP Go, which i, every night, hook it up to my LCD via HDMI cable, and a good SONY headphone (with external noise reduction -> which mean i don't get to hear whatever my wife says or speaks) during gameplay... ** Peace, yeah **
Now i am hot, very hot, on Metal Gear Solid : Peace Walker.... this game rocks!

Just downloaded Doodle Jump to my iPhone today - great entertainment for short breaks while catching elevators or installing other software.
Reached 20k ponits after an hour of practicing and then decided to check whether I am "top contributor" yet...
--> Some guy has reached 6 million ponits already!
I think he is ponits gaming somehow....
Cheers,
Julius
Yeh, but what if he is using some "hacks" like hidden ok-cokes to replace the "falling off the game" by "dropping into the top" again.
Or playing it backwards?
According to my calculations, 6 million ponits would have taken him about 40 hours of playing... (unless there is some super-turbo-mode which I have not reached yet).
I will search google for "hacks"...
Cheers,
Julius
Hmm. Maybe he just did a recording and wrote a BDC program, or just uploaded a flat file full of points or used an enhancement to modify standard data.... the possibilities are endless.
So what does a Security Consultant do in such a scenario? Block all authorizations, delete the user-id, change password, initialize the points, send a point-bot-destroyer?

I'm a big fan of games ... I also prefer my laptop.
Currently my favorite has to be Call of Duty 4

I am fairly surprised to know SDNers dont game that much. Always was under the impression tech/nerdy(??) guys are into gaming!! No offense girls.. I have not seen girls show as much interest in games/rigs as guys. Again I may be completely wrong. Would be happy to know if that is the case.

Jai
We (note I do not say I) have a PS2, XBOX, and WII in the household. The WII collects dust as does the old PS2. However, the XBOX is burning up the wires all the time. Not by me, but my 17 year old son who spends hours on-line with it. He has that deluxe wireless headset and we can hear him in his room yelling at people for leading him in to traps in the various games like call of duty. I suppose if I tried it out, I might like it, but I gave up video gaming around the time that they started installing Ms. PacMan games in bars in place of the tables (circa 1980).
I'm suprised nobody mentioned this "old innovation" yet.

As for myself I have a 360 and wii at home right now. The wii is mostly used by wife for wii fit. When I get a chance to use the 360 its mainly for racing/sports games.
Take care,
Stephen

They probably are. The mistake you've made is assuming that people who work in technology and IT are tech/nerdy.
While my friends were playing games (in the 1980s), I was writing them. Nowadays, unless I'm being paid, or there's a chance of financial remuneration, I don't write programs or otherwise get "into" technology for the sake of it. I'm having far too much fun iteracting with the real world. I write, I make music and I'm involved in theatre. And I've a family.
Not exactly hooked with PS3/X BOX I preffer my gaming laptop with Logitech RumblePad2 game controller..
Currently busy with "Assassination Creed"
