Some FI AR documents are not getting extracted to BW

Hi All,

My value for ECC and BW do not tally for a report. When i further analyzed, I found that the data for a set of document numbers are missing.

But these records are available in RSA3 (Full update)

However, when my datasources operates in a delta mode and it is not bringing these records to BW. Now when i ran a REPAIR FULL REQUEST, the missing documents were extracted to my BW system..

Can anyone please explain the reason behind this??

Thanks

sneha

Hi,

When the dataload is done in delta mode. The data is extracted from RSA7 based on the last delta pointers. Therefore any previous data which has been missed by delta will not get captured with delta mode.

Whereas when you load through the Repair full, it would fetch the records that have been missed without disturbing the deltas.

Hi Rahul

Thanks for the quick response..

I wanted to understand.. why those documents were not extracted in the first place even if the data is available in RSA3?

Hi,

You have mentioned in your question itself that the data is coming up in RSA3(full update). This is fetched from the database tables. Also, your dataload is delta based. The reason why these records are not getting fetched via delta should be that the timestamps for these records would be prior to the current delta pointer.

e.g. Suppose your timestamp for last delta dataload is 10.10.2010 20:00:00. Now, when you will go for next delta dataload, it will fetch only those records from database tables which were created or changed after this timestamp. None of the records before this timestamp would not be fetched.

When you go in RSA3 with full update, it would fetch the records based on your selection condition and not based on any delta pointers. Therefore, you would be able to see the missing documents in RSA3.

Hope this clarifies your doubt.

Hi Rahul,

Thanks for the explanation.

But i was expecting that since the data is available in the datasource, it should have been extracted to the data target

Hi,

Please note that for FI datasources data is directly transferred from database tables to BI system. The datasource do not hold any data. When you will run it in full mode in RSA3, it would fetch from the database table and show you all the records for your condition irrespective of the delta pointer. But when you fetch deltas, it fetches data only after delta pointer.

For such cases only, the option of Repair Full Update is given, so that if the data is missed in deltas it can be fetched without disturbing the delta pointers.
