Xcelsius basic scenario, please help

Hi all,

Please help me in my scenario:

As I've learned, Xcelsius cannot read live Excel data (i.e refreshes latest data changes), rather the Excel sheet has to be converted to XML format in order for Xcelsius swf to read the latest updates.

OK, my situation is like this:

A. We have several units.

B. Each unit downloads its data from the server as Excel spreadsheet.

C. They clean these sheets, refresh the pivot tables and charts, then send the report as Excel spreadsheets.

Now the question is: What is the best and easiest way to make these reports available online as XML where:

1- The users can easily update them (they don't know XML coding, only Excel, copy and past data).

2- Maintain the pivot tables so the Xcelsius swf can draw the charts correctly with latest data.

Note: uploading XML to our http server is easy for us, no problem with that (we use Microsoft SharePoint web site).

I hope I made it clear for you to help making this tasks the easiest way for our employees.

    You could use SAP MII to import your data and use it as a datasource for Xcelsius dashboards.

    For most companies, this works quite well.

      Thanks, but what is SAP MII and how can we use it.

      My company do use SAP. In fact all our downloads comes from SAP screens. But we don't have any access as SAP administrators or has any higher access level, we are only a SAP users who can enters data and pull out reports.

      But Excel would be enough for us if we know how to do it.

    Dear Friend,

    If you have Business Objects Enterprise, then use universe and live office / QaaWS for Excel automation.

    Hi,

    Before u get started on anything u should know Xcelsius Limitations:

    !)Pivot Tables cannot be used in xcelsius.

    2)Macros cannot be used

    The best way of doing this is to go with XML data ,Use Xml data buttons and map thos to ur corresponding charts.Once done you can share your swf I.g http://10..5.43.56/dashboard.swf .Any one can see this if they are a part of ur netowork.

    Bestway is to keep that in share point so that every one can access it..
