Selection variable based key figure value calculation

Dear Friends,

We are using BI7.00 with NW2004S. In one of our FI reports, we have selection screen variable as fiscal year, posting period, company code out of the three the fiscal year and posting period are mandatory fields.

Since users are finding it very difficult to enter the values every time the open the report, we have decided to create a copy this query to remove the mandatory fields and create a new WAD report where after execution of the query without variables, users will select the year and period whenever they require and whichever they require.

We have copied the query and also changed the input variable as optional. when executed, the report shows no value.

On our analysis it was observed that the key figures are calculated based on selection, like for example YTD last year is created as selection in which the GL net balance key figure is restricted to the fiscal year with the option of set offset for the variable. Simillarly other key figures are also restricted with selection variable.

Hence we found that the report will only yeild result with the value in the selection variable. This was correct in our checking. But once after execution, when we try to change the values for posting period and fiscal year, the report does refresh with zero but actually values are available. (this was checked with the original report).

Experts kindly guide me with steps of how to overcome this problem.

My requirement is the report should only calculate the value once the fiscal year and posting period are selected after execution of the report in WAD.

Thank you for your information. The report when run in RSRT also shows wrong values. i.e., in the original query both the fiscal year and posting periods are mandatory hence the query yields correct results for the key figure YTD_LY which is (year to date last year) this is a selection where the GLnetbalance key figure is restricted to fiscal year and posting period and hence when in enter the year in the selection screen the query calculates the value and yeilds correct result . Whereas in my query i have removed teh mandatory fields and hence when i run the query it yeilds wrong value.

Can you help me to solve this issue. Kindly provide steps.
