Can't Create a New Company

I can't create a new company with 8.8 PL15

The company list is empty. When I click the New button, it prompts for the Site User password, accepts it, and then does nothing. Clicking Refresh does nothing either. I've set up the DB creds in the License Server and made sure it's up and running.

So as far as I can tell, I've taken care of the two major things other people have dealt with: using the latest release, and making sure the License Server has the DB credentials. What else could I be missing?

DB user permissions problem.

I created a new superuser as described in section 7.3, page 152, and can now create a company. I thought this would've been taken care of automatically since the B1 installer handled the SQL Server 2008 installation too.

Where you are trying to create new company. On Client Machine or on Server?

If on Client then check the connectivity with server. Ping it...........

No problems with connectivity -- I've tried both with a client installed on the server machine, and from my workstation elsewhere on the LAN.
