Identifying Unique raw material used for a obselete Finished goods.

Our client is a consumer product industry. They have lot of finished goods. They use multi level BOMs. When a Finished good becomes obselete they want to know unique raw material (which is not used in other FG- inturn other BOMs) used for particular FG.

Also they may obselete several FG materials (for eg 50) at a time. they also want to know unique raw material being used among those finished goods.

Is there any standard SAP/PLM report available to show the unique raw material by checking BOMs?

    Dear

Use the standard SAP t.code CS15 to get the uniique raw material which is used in how many FG materials ,

    for this

    Go to CS15

    enter raw material number

Type of where used list -select direct

    used in select material BOM

    execute

    enter quantity and plant

    • Dear

Goto -CS15/CSC5/CSD5 where you have option know wchich componenets ( RAW , HALB ) is getting used in whiuch BOM in what qty .

To do that , you should have list of Raw material with qty which you are interettes to find out in the Obsolte BOM .Enter Material Code , Hit Direct or Class , Mark MateriaL BOM -Hit the Header Arrow -Enter the Base qty of the compoenets -Excute -Here you can choose Select Lay out option to play around with display field or hiddne fild from top headre

Hope this will solve the issue

    Hi

Check T code CS15 and also check these FMs

CS_WHERE_USED_MAT Bills of material; where-used list

CS_WHERE_USED_MAT_ANY Bills of material; where-used list as material or class item

    Srinivasan,

Looks like a very strong case of custom ABAP development to get this functionality unless there is some standard functionality under consumer product industry.

Only only other slightly manual workaround that comes to my mind is to use the Engg workbench tool ( tcode CEWB).

Under current work area : select SAP_ITEM ( focus Bom items). Hit the Additional selection criteria . Now you get various Tabs for 1.selecting data. One of them is Item tab.

    2. enter your plant no.

    3. Under Component field (copy all componenets from Obselete Material Bom) into this field.

    4. Next Hit the Load Boms icon or hit F8.

This gives you all the Boms that use components of Obselete Bom's. If you find any component does not appear on list then those are your unique components not used in other Bom's

I am sure this workaround is of some help. Else Custom ABAP report to get this data must be developed.

    thanks,

    Ram

    Hi,

This is a Valid requirement. But unfortunately there is no SAP standard report to support this requirement.

We have implemented a solution, the logic is as below:

    1. A multiple selection on top level (DISCO-list) in CS12 to explode the BOM's.

    2. Enter the components from the exploded BOM's in a multiple selection in CS15.

    3. Check each component to see if it is only used in BOM's from the first selection (DISCO-list). Set a flag on the component if this is the case.

    using the Function Module: CS_WHERE_USED_MAT.

We need to pass all the components of the BOM explosing in this FM.

if the component is part of only one Matrial then set one indicator, but we can not restrict the FM to list all the where used list.

This is the main challenge and requires lot of system resources.

    Regards,

    Siva

    Srinivasan,

You have a couple of choices to resolve this issue.

1.Either you use workaround as I suggested using Engineering work bench

2.Using CS15 methods suggested by other experts

3.Develop custom solution as explained by Siva.

    Thanks,

    Ram
