Old Joining date to be assinged for a new joinee

Dear Experts Pls let me know if the following senario is poosible and help me to solve the same:

a candidate whose contract is over is rejoining again . He has already completed 2 contracts as follows :

1st Oct 2004- 30th Sept 2009

Now he is joining from the 4th Oct 2010 again at the same position.

Can we assign the joining date as 1st Oct 2004 to this employee and if we can do that ... How do we do ? Whats the path ??
