how create Track having SCA developed by others

Hi all,

I'm working with NW 7.0 SP14 and same version of NWDS. I have 5 file .SCA that I have to import in my NWDI but these SCA have been developed and assembled from other server by other developers of an external company. I have to migrate the source application in my NWDI but I have only the 5 .SCA file and I can't ask old developers to export the product version and the software component from previous NWDI. How can I solve the problem? Can I create a Product in NWDS using my specific parameter (example Vendor:myVendor ...) and then copy the 5 .SCA file into folder /usr/sap/trans/CMS/inbox? Or have I need to do other steps?

Thanks in advance

Maria

    Hi,

just create a new software in SLD like MYCOMPONENT (further I'll refer to it as SC X), and specify there buildtime dependency to the software(s) developed by the other company (further: SC Y).

Then you can create the track by adding SC X to the track, then copy SC Y software(s) into the CMS/inbox, import them into DEV/CONS, etc, (like in normal cases).

Notice, you obviously need to create this software (SC Y) in the SLD else you'll not be able to refer it from your SC X.

This SC Y need to have the same name, vendor, etc like in the SLD of the external company (or you can export/import SLD content from their SLD to yours. If this is not possible you can figure out these infos if you just look into this SC file. They are just zip-like archives).

Notice also, since these SCs (SC Y) were developed not in your NWDI domain, you'll not be able to raise the SP and patch level numbers in case you'd like to alter them (as they belong to the external company's NWDI domain. These options will be simply grayed out at assembly. But since you just refer them via your SC file (SC X) it is not a problem, since you'll assemble that one, I only mentioned this for the sake of security in case you'd like to alter it/them directly).

I hope this answers your question.

    Best Regards,

    Ervin
