Make to Stock/ Make to Order scenario- Stategies used

Hi Gurus,

I have a scenario. In the BOM, the final Finished Product was to be made for make to stock. There are two semi finished material below that. One I want to use it for make to stock and another for make to order. There is one more raw material at the bottom level which I want for make to stock. So I want to know what are the strategies I can use in the material master at all the levels for this scenario. Can anyone explain how can I do it in SAP? Is it necessary that the strategies to be used in all the levels or not? If not, how we can achieve this type of scenario?

Regards,

Brijesh

Hi,

In MTO Scenario the requirements will be triggered by the Sales Order.

In general the Sales Order will be for Header Material in the BOM Structure.

It is not possible to have the Sub-assembly only MTO.

If the Planning of the SubAssembly is with reference to MTO in case of Service PArts then it is possible to have the Sales Orderfor this and the Planning will irrespective of the Header Material.

One more thing is Indvidual/collective Indicator is only for MTO Items only.

This willnot work for MTS.

Hi Siva,

Regarding the use of Collective Req "2" for MTS and Individual Req "1" for MTO, i had got the information from the people who had answered for my previous thread. Find below the link for the same.

Please comment if you want to add anything on that. Thanks.

Hi Brijesh,

Go to the view MRP 4 in the semi-finished material master data, in the field "Individual/coll." select "1 - Individual requirements only", then run MRP again, you will find that the semi-finished material use make to stock production now.

You can use the same approach for other materials in the BoM.

Good luck

Hi Siva,

Yes you ar right. Last time I had a scenario as mentioned below,

In the BOM, the final Finished Product was to be made for make to order. There are two semi finished material below that. One I want to use it for make to stock and another for make to order. There is one more raw material at the bottom level which I want for make to stock.

So in the above case, I had given the Strategy 20/50 for the FG material. And for the below SF goods material, I had not put the strategies but instead I had put the Collective Requirement "2" for MTS and Individual Requirement "1" for MTO. It worked.

So I just wanted to know if it is the other way round (Current Query), what are the Strategies used at the top level and is it necessary to put the strategies at the SFG levels also. If not, whether I can use the Collective Req/ Individual req for that to achieve this.

If anyone can explain more on this, it would be really usefull. Thanks.

Dear ,

BOM Header FG : Planning strategy 10 or 40

BOM Level 1 SFG1 : Planing Strategy 10 or 40

BOM Level1 SFG2 : Planning Startegy 20 with Individual Collective as 2 at MRP4

BOM Level 2 : SFG1 : Planning Startegy : 20 with Individual Collective 2 at MRP4

Just test in the sand box and come back

Hi,

In general the scenario would be other way round.

Finished product to MTO and th subassemblies to MTS.

But, what is the exact requirement? why you want to do like this? Is there any other dependencies for the sub-assembly which you want to have the MTO?

Siva
