Dep Key Changed and Dep Postings were not updated even after RECALC..

Hi All

Here i am having an issue with the Dep Key Change and its consequences.

Basically we have updated the Dep Key with respectve of the new Dep keys for 2010 Assets at a mass level by LSMW a few months back.

10 and 11 Dep areas should have the same DEP Keys. Due to file mistake 11 has got different Dep keys.

Now the Dep Postings were happening differently for both DEP Areas.

But the Ordinary Dep postings did not changed even after the Recalculation (AFAR) for Last year.

What has to be done to make the 11 Dep area posting should look alike to 10 Dep area?

Please let me know if i am missing anything here.

Hi Meenakshi,

let me summarize if I understood you correctly. Depr. area have got the wrong depr. Key and depr. Is already posted u2013 right?

Now you have inserted the right key?

Recalculation of value has been executed?

The concerned fiscal year is open?

Now in the following depr. run (RAPOST2000) the depr. will be corrected for all open fiscal years.

> Yes , current and last Fiscal year both are open. In our company current year is 2011 - 4th period i think

Now in the following depr. run (RAPOST2000) the depr. will be corrected for all open fiscal years.

Dear Meenakshi,

So, if the values have not changed after recalculation values as a result of changing the depr, key. the depr. Run would not have a effect.

For sure you can check with RAPOST2000 in testrun if the system would post anything.

If the system would not post anything (as expected because the values have not been changed) the next step would be to figure out why the change of the depr. Key has no effect on the depr. calculation.

Perhaps the system is right, and there is really no change?

You could check u201Cdisplay depr. calculationu201D in AW01N.

Is the depr. key ative or on status u201CMigatedu201D in Transaction AFAMA?

I would check also another depr. key which is completely different in this asset.

Ledger postings will not happen to these areas. They are only for reporting purposes.

Hi Meenakshi,

You have figure out if the system calculates correct according to the settings in the depreciation key.

I assume there is really no change in depreciation necessary if the system calculates as displayed in the function u201Cdisplay depr. calculationu201D in AW01N.
