Field refrence is not working

Dear Experts,

I have assigned the Material Group MARA-MATKL to field selection group 235, and I made it optional not required for all Field references even for Field References for plants or industry sectors

The problem is its still Required even it is not in all Field References,I have make sure that there is no Transaction Variants for MM01 using TCode SHD0

Hi,

If the purchasing view is filled (ie. the material is eligible for purchasing) the material group (MARA-MATKL) is mandatory.

Thus the customizing has no effect in this case. If you only fill the Basic view and NOT the Purchasing view the customizing will have the desired effect in your system.

The reason for this is, that the purchasing programs require this field and thus it MUST be filled in the material master (it is hardcoded this way).
