Sometimes points are assigned to incorrect answers or to people who have just copied the correct reply posted by someone else in the same thread. How to report this wrong assignment of points?
> My suggestion is to post a response pointing out the error.
This can be delicate when my own replies are in that thread, then it might look like I'm complaining simply because I haven't received the pints. I'd say in this case the abuse report is more discreet.
@abapuser, please report such things only if you are very certain that a misassignment has been done, otherwise you are wasting moderator's time, because investigating such things and making a good decision takes much more effort than "bad subject" or "did not search".

I'd file an abuse of the 'general' category and explain in the comment field.

I'm of two minds about this:
On the one hand, it is the right and responsibility of the person who asks the question to assign po1nts for helpful answers. As a moderator, I really don't like to interfere with that process. However, to an experienced SCN user, the assignment of po1nts to an incorrect answer reflects poorly on the OP.
On the other hand, you're absolutely correct.
My suggestion is to post a response pointing out the error. That way it allows searchers to make up their own minds and may encourage OPs to be more careful when assigning po1nts along with shaming the responder.
You can also flag that post as abuse and explain in the report why you are flagging it. A moderator may want to join in and support you.

I search for something I first try solution which has
been provided with maximum points
Out of three or four suggestions, I strongly feel that one can easily find which would be the most suitable solution to their issue irrespective of the points given by OP. Anyway, you are going to test in development server and there is nothing wrong doing different testing there By doing so, you learn what should do and what should not do )
thanks

This one I like. Besides the possibility of testing wrong answers and learning from that, there may even be more than one right answer to a question. Would you want to miss these because the 'winning' points weren't assigned to them?
Thanks everyone for sharing your views.I understand that we cannot impose on anyone as far as point rewarding is concerned.I think if something like this happens,we should politely mention our remarks(not naming anyone) so that if in future somebody has a look on that thread,he would consider the remarks of others as well.
