Why does purchasing group sometimes automatically populate in transaction MC43?

I've checked MC43 in my test system - purchasing group is not populated automatically on the selection screen.

I'd suspect a transaction variant or a custom change to MC43. I'm afraid without access to your system, I all but impossible to tell.

Purchasing group field in MC43 is associated to PID parameter EKG:

Thus the field gets populated automatically when the PID holds a value.

You can set PID value in SU3 transaction. It may also get populated last value entered.

Thanks, Dominik. Would this be one of the parameters in the person's personal profile? I looked at the parameters (using SU01D) for a user who is experiencing this behavior and one who isn't and neither has EKG in there profile. Is there another place for me to look.
