SAP B1 2007 SP01 PL11 - Upgrade Will not install

Hi Experts,

I have a client currently running B1 2007 SP01 PL08 (Recently upgraded from PL05). I have been to by SAP to install the latest Patch Level (which appears to be PL11). However this will not install. The application crashes out just after I get to the 'Welcome to the Upgrade' Screen, with a Windows message saying 'Upgrade.exe' has stopped working....

The Server is Win Srv 2008 Std 64Bit with SQL 2005

Has anyone come across this before??

Hi Ian,

the reported issue could be caused due to missing Microsoft ATL security patch. In order to try to resolve reported issue please follow the steps from the Note [1408662|https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1odSZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=1408662].

Please install on all affected servers and workstations the exact same Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package downloaded from the Microsoft site as it states in the Note [1408662|https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1odSZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=1408662].

Hi,

you could try to upgrade using all upgrade setup.exe that available in the packages folder. Do not use upgrade launcher window.

Are you running using right click>Run as administrator? I have successfully completed an upgrade to this patch in a non 64 bit Windows 2003 environment

Hi Julie,

Yes I have tried this, although I was also logged on as the administrator.

I am going to test today on one of our testbed systems, here at the office, to see if I can reproduce the same results.

I suspect that it is something to do with the 64Bit element and the specific PL's 10 & 11, as there was no issue with the upgrade from PL05 to PL08 or PL08 to PL09.

I will update this thread with my findings.

Hi Experts,

Further Update:

PL09 Installed successfuly

PL10 still fails with the original error.

PL11 still fails with the original error.

I'm giving up and going home now

Hi Experts,

I have an update to this:

I have downloaded and attempted to install PL10. This generates the same error as PL11.

I have downloaded and attempted to install PL09. This appears to work!

In the UPGRADE download area, there is a message that states "Unlike specified in the PatchReadme file of PL09, customers who are running versions previous to SAP Business One 2007 A SP01, must first upgrade to version 2007A SP01 PL08 before applying 2007A SP01 PL09 or higher."

Now this seems a little strange as my clinet was on PL05 and I carried out a sucessful upgrade to PL08 earlier.

It would appear to me as if you need to go through each and every patch level in order since PL05, which as you can imagine is an extreamly time consuming process.

Wouldn't it be nice to be told that this was the case?
