Forward Scheduling for external procurement

Hi,

I read the SAP help portal on the topic forward scheduling for external procurement., there is this point....

Materials that are planned using MRP or forecast-based planning are switched to forward scheduling if the start date calculated in backward scheduling was in the past..

Do you understand what SAP trying to say on above point? an example will be great.

Dear Tuffy,

Say for example

when running MRP it does backward scheduling

If the material required date falls before ( i.e 20-09-10 ) ( previous date )

Taking all parameters (PR processing time, Planned delevery time, GR processing time )

Then MRP automatically does Forward scheduling starting from current date ( i.e start date 22-09-2010 )

Dear Tuff ,

If you maintain Start Date in the Past ( no of days MRP system will consider as start date in past ) in OPU3/OPU5 -Define Scheduling Parametrs , then this particualr case will happen.System will carry out Forward scheeuling instade of Backward scheuling even MRP bu default does Backward .

Please try in the Sand box by keeping some work days in that Filed , Create Demand whos requirement date will be in the past and chek the MRP result after carrying out MD03.I hope it will be more clear to in this way .

Hope this is helpful .Try and revert back

Dear Tuffy,

Previous date - Past date

Todays' date - 22-09-2010

Past date - 20-09-2010

If the requirement date if falling past date

then system will automatically does forward scheduling with current date
