Fine tuning formulas in BEx Analyzer to improve performance

We are attempting to replace Hyperion Enterprise as our planning and budgeting tool but need an Excel interface that is as quick and flexible as Hyperion Retrieve. We have been testing the BEx Analyzer and have determined that it is pretty close to what our users need. However, we need to somehow setup our BEx Analyzer so the formulas query BW only for the specific information needed in the cells that contain the bexget formulas. With our current setup, BEx pulls in all the information based on the underlying query and presents what you have chosen in the bexget formula - so there is a lot of overhead. This method takes more memory than our PCs can handle and it takes a while up front for the data to load.

Therefore, I would like to hear from anyone with advanced knowledge of the BEx Analyzer. Specifically regarding the use of the bexget and bexset formulas with large amounts of data and multiple data providers.

    Hello,

I do not believe this is possible. I would suggest that you improve performance by placing restrictions using the safety belt. See note 1127156 - Safety belt: Result set is too large.

This is an alternative way to achieve your goal.

    Thanks,

    Michael
