Changing the Portalu2019s Oracle Database Password

Background

I stupidly changed the database password in Secure Store. My intention was to change the Admin in Secure Store after changing it in UME. I decided to change both password fields in Secure Store 😕 and restarted the portal.

The portal failed to complete bootstrap, even config tool failed to start because it tries to connect with the wrong password. The only solution in this case is to change the database password.

Solution

Important: log into the server with the user <SID>adm. Only this user has sufficient priveledges to run the BRTools program.

Ensure that these environment variables are set:

ORACLE_SID = <sid>

SAPDATA_HOME = e:\oracle\<sid>

BR*Tools

About BR*Tools: [[sap help|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/0c/cd271365debc42bef96ac7fd907787/frameset.htm]]]

Run BR*Tools:

E:\usr\sap\<sid>\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64\brtools.exe

Menu choices

8 = Additional Functions  4 = change password of database user  c = continue

(note you do not have to fill in option 2 u2013 database user. It defaults to the correct one)

Close brtools

Restart the portal

    Hi Smile,

    In fact, you can also change the password maintained for jdbc/pool/<SID>/Password back to the original one simply,

    without touching the db leve password if you don't want.

    Regards,
