Problem connecting to server for getting UME artifacts and process instance

I have installed NWDS version 7.2 SP03 PAT0001. I can configured my CE server details in NWDS successfully and can deploy/undeploy my WDJava components. But I am facing connectivity problem when I try to perform some activities for BPM.

I can see the local server in the "servers" view and in the SAP Management perspective. However, I cannot fetch UME artifacts in the Identity Browser view (there I get a popup telling "Error fteching UME data - Server not found") nor can I see process instances in the corresponding view (There the error is: "You are not logged into system 'ME1'. To authenticate click here." and when I click on the link, nothing happens). This is the fresh NWDS installation I have done. So please let me know if anyone knows how to resolve this issue.

check the proxy settings in the n/w connection. Select a direct connection there.
