auth control of materials & BOM's

i am from PLM and i would like to know how the authorizations of materials and BOM can be controlled in R3.

For all i know,

1. we need to look in to the auth groups

2. create objects with the required auth group

3. create a role which has an auth object having this auth group

4. assign the role to the user to enable to access.

(Correct me if i am wrong)

But i am not sure how each step is perfomed and where would we need basis help.

Also, pls tell me if the entire object(not any particular attribute of the object) needs to be blocked for a user how i can go about doing this.

Pls advice.

    Dear Sujata,

1.If you want to identify what are the authorization objects for any T code use T Code SU24 ,enter the T Code say for Eg: CS01

and execute, the list displays the authorization objects that can be used for CS01.

2.When your Basis consultant create any role using PFCG,after adding the T Codes, clicking the authorization objects it asks for

the org level data say plant, company code, controlling area based on the T Codes that are added to the profile.

3.Authorization object can be manually added here in PFCG also.

4.for BOM authorization can be based on BOM usage,BOM category,Authorization group, plant assignment, change without

    change numbers etc.

Check and revert with your further queries.

i have the following business scenario

All the users by default have the authorizations to transactions MM01,02& 03. There are few classified objects(materials & BOM's) which i want to restrict the access to only few people. These objects do not belong to any single category(like material type, plant etc.,). They are spread all across. Now i want the access to these "classified objects" to only few people. Please suggest the best way to achieve this.
