Hello,

For creating any dynamic report, you need to first define the layout which will govern contents of the report in a specified manner at any given point of time. Now, for various regulatory compliances, an organization needs to deal with many reports (Incident/Accident, MSDS, Labels, Waste manifest etc), which should be based on the real-time data of the materials.

This is achieved in SAP EH&S through Windows Wordprocessor Integration (WWI) which is the modified version of Microsoft Word to create the layout of the reports.

You create the report layout in transaction cg42 where relevant symbols are inserted with various conditions and in specified manner. These symbols can be of 3 types viz: specification (collects values related to a particular substance), parameter (collects values from table fields of other SAP components ) and descriptor (phrase texts and phrase-related fields like phrase codes, graphics etc).

So, when you create report, the WWI functionality collects all the relevant information for the substance through the symbols defined in the template; and the generation variant selects/restricts the information based on the regions/usage/validity defined.
