SHELL CREATION

Hi Gurus,

I would like to know how to do shell creation?

I know it is kind of system copy. But instead of exporting whole data we select client independent data & master data's alone (please correct me if I am wrong).

Is shell creation is available in sapinst itself or we need to do it manually?

Kindly help me in knowing this. Thanks in advacne.

This is actually wrong, right?

Shell creation will not copy master data. It is designed to copy only client independent data, and some client specific data like user and address data.

(Right means right for wrong) May be it sounds confusing

This is what Shell creation will consider : Repository and client-indep. data only

If it's manually done. How are we going to select the data's. Is the intelligence bulit in the TDMS itself or we need to choose the datas?

Hi Hari,

In TDMS, we have shell creation packages. When you decide to run a shell package, you will get all the required steps documented in the package to aid you in the run. There will be certain steps which would be done similar to a system copy and some customizations that would have to be performed in the package itself (For example: exclude tables from transfer, etc).
