I'd like to know work instruction display on standard/integrated POD. (Not on rich POD.)
Is it possible to display user-defined work instruction text on standard and/or integrated POD before an user start the SFC?
HI, Sergiy,
Thanks for your kind and good idea.
We try with your solution.

Takahiro,
To show WI, you need to add WI500 activity to START button in POD Maintenance.
BTW, this topic is covered by basic training course for SAP ME.

Hi, Sergiy,
Thanks for your information.
Can the operator have a time to check and do what he/she should do before start the SFC by the work instruction by your way? According to my try, the SFC starts immediately.
In other words, we want to enforce the operator to watch work instruction and judge if he/she already finished to preparation for start. (As you can imagine, we have some operation steps where the operators must check the work instruction text before start.)
By this time, although I tried to add WI500 into pre-start activity hook, it was impossible.
Do you have any good advise for my case?
Regards,
Takahiro
Takahiro,
WI500 is not a hookable activity, it is a plugin to be assigned the same button as START but before PR500 (specifying the sequences of activities).
Actually, you are right about behavior of WI500 that it cannot interrupt Start action. However, you can try the following:
- in WI Maintenance, uncheck Required option for the WI;
- attach the WI to an operation;
- alter START button in POD Maintenance:
seq. 10 - WI500; check "Is Plug-in" option;
seq. 20 - PR500;
- now when you select SFC and click Start button in POD, the lower frame refreshes and displays WI Viewer plug-in where you can select the WI to open it in separate IE window.
- in case you need to interrupt Start action, while WI Viewer is shown you can click e.g. Sign-off button - the system will halt Start and display the error message that the SFC is not in work at this operation. The same way you can click any other button or even click F5 to refresh IE window.
In addition, you can create WI1 as required and WI2 as not required but attached to the same operation. Then following the same scenario above, after click on Start button the system will display WI1 in separate IE window in front of POD IE wondow, and in POD IE you will see WI Viewer which pauses Start action.

Sergiy
