How to run unplanned depreciation

Former Member

Hi Good Morning!

We used unplanned depreciation to adjust our beginning balances to correct our accumulated depreciation balance.

Now we tried to run depreciation for period 9, the error message says: Last posting run terminated (Restart in period 2009 012).

We followed the message and we tried to run 2009 12 but still we can't depreciate it....

What shall we do to depreciate our assets? How to run separately the unplanned depreciation?

I will really appreciate if you can enlighten me on what to do...Thank You So Much...

Dear,

Maria.

Nice to hear from you !

Account Determination is the step where we specify the balance sheet accounts, special reserve accounts, and the depreciation accounts for Asset Accounting. For various asset accounting transactions accounts are determined from here,

for the same T.code is AO90.

Now coming to your error / question maintain your Accumulated Depreciation here in account determination.

Go to your respective asset class - get your account detemination from there - Go to AO90 - Set your Chart of Depreciation - Select your Account Determination - Go to Dialogue Structure - Select Depreciation Account - Double click on Depreciation area 01 ( Book Depreciation area )- Maintain the said GL account for Accumulated Depreciation - SAVE.

Cross verify the maintained entries in Table T095B.

And run the AFAB again. I hope now this time you wont see this error.

I hope this will help you to solve your issue. If you have feel free to share.

Hi Sir!

We did what you've told us but this is the error message...

Account 50900002 requires an assignment to a CO object

Message no. KI235

Diagnosis

You have not defined a CO account assignment for an account that is relevant to cost accounting.

System Response

Account 50900002 is defined as a cost element.

This means that you must always specify a CO account assignment.

Procedure

Enter one of the following CO account assignments

Order

Cost center / cost center/ activity type

Sales order item (for a project or cost relevant)

Project / WBS element

Cost object (Process manufacturing)

Network/ Network activities

Business process

Profitability segment

Real estate object

The posting row affected is 0000000001, account 50900002.

Is there anything lacking on this procedure....

Thanks so much, I really need your help....

Dear,

Maria.

While runnign depreciation run , depreciation will be posted to DEP EXP account, and the same requires an Co object, when you have controlling active in your system.

Go to your GL 211100 master and assign either Cost Center or Internal Order to that cost elemant.

or you can maintain default setings in OKB9 also

This will fix your issue.

OR

You can avoid to set data in OKB9 by :

1 ) Put a cost center in asset master data

2 ) Configure the correct account assignment (KOSTL in your case) for the relevant company in transaction ACSET.

From a controlling point of view, this solution is more convinient.

I hope this will help you, If you need any more help feel free to share.

Take your Depreciation Account 50900002 --> Go to OKB9 ---> Maaintain the default Cost Center for the same.

And run depreciation again.

Unplanned depreciation will be adjusted in the normal run against the period which it is raised.

Can you please tell more details against which period (with fiscal year) you booked unplanned?

Dear,

Maria.

Very Good Morning !

What error message you got when you run the depreciation for 2009 12 period ?

Restart Run performed because If the program is terminated during a posting run for various reasons, then

the program has to be started again in the restart mode to clear the data base of possible inconsistencies.

Since unplanned depreciaiton can not be run seperately. Please paste the error or any message you received for last posting run here, so that anybody can help you.

I hope this will help you a bit to understand the issue. If you have any doubts feel free to share. Please revert.

Pankaj A Bhalerao.

Hi,

You have to maintain the g/l account via t-code AO90.

Hi Maria,

The Assets determines the GL Accounts using the Account Detrmination. We need to specify the GL Accounts for the Account determination in AO90.As per the Error you have shown the GL Accont needs to be maintained for the relevant Account determination. The Acc.dep. accnt.for ordinary depreciation needs to be assigned.

This will be assigned in AO90. Select the Chart of Accounts in the initial screen. Select Account determination in the Dialog Structure. Select the required Account determination. Select the depreciation folder. Double click on the 01 dep area. Update the GL Account for Acc.dep. accnt.for ordinary depreciation.

Check the Table T095B for the Account determination for which the GL Accounts are not assigned.

Thanks,

Raja.
