Depreciation key

Former Member

Hello all,

do you know the utility of these flags in transaction AFAMA:

1) period control according to fiscal years

2) No reduct in short year

I have two different keys one with this flags and the other without.

The rest of the customizing is the same.

Are these keys equal or with the flags the result of the depreciation calculation is different?

Thanks.

Best regards.

Hello,

sorry but it is not clear.

I have done some test but I don't understand how these flags modified the calculation.

I have seen F1 help but for me it is not clear.

Can you post some examples?

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

Hello Roberto,

1) Period control per fiscal year

When you set this indicator, you can define the period control in this

depreciation key for selected company codes and fiscal years differently

from the period control defined in the internal calculation key.

2) Do not reduce depreciation in shortened fiscal year

Examples

According to the specifications in the company code, ordinary depreciation for Area 01 should be reduced in a shortened fiscal year. In spite of this, you do not want the depreciation in this calculation key to be reduced. Therefore, set the indicator.

According to the specifications in the company code, special depreciation (Area 02) should not be reduced in a shortened fiscal year. In this instance depreciation would not be reduced in any case. Therefore, the indicator does not affect the calculation of depreciation in this example.

Thank you very much for your help Bernhard.

A last question:

what is shortened fiscal year?

Help F1 says:

Financial Accounting (FI)

A shortened fiscal year arises through a shift in the end of the fiscal year.

The shortened fiscal year covers the period between the end of the last fiscal year in the old cycle and the beginning of the next fiscal year in the new cycle. For example, if your old fiscal year runs from October 1 1997 to September 30 1998 and you want the new fiscal year to begin on January 1 1999, you would set up a shortened fiscal year for the period October 1 1998 to December 31 1998.

I thougt it was when I do an acquisition in July (for example). The system with a control period ex. 01 for acquisition calculates the depreciation of 6 months.

With the flag the system will calculate the depreciation of 12 months?

I have done a test seems different.

Thanks a lot.

Best regards.

Hi Roberto,

1) A "shortened Fiscal Year" is a Fiscal year that contains less than twelve months.

2) If for example the shortened Fiscal Year" is 9 month, the system should calculate for 12 month and not for 9 month
