Hi folks

I would need your expertise with this issue.

I have checked that all requirements are met before installing. The host system is Windows 2003 Server R2 on Vmware.

I get the following java error when trying to install (towards the end of the install). See full log below:

(Sep 15, 2010 7:58:12 PM), Install, com.sap.installshield.maxdb.maxdb_call_sdbinst, err, An error occurred and product installation failed. Look at the log file C:\sapdb\NSP\log.txt for details.

Hi There;

Which version of Java Runtime Environment that you've installed on your machine ?

When you said "... towards the end of the isntall", there're more than 20 steps in the process, at which step the error occurred ?

Hi Jen

Thanks for your reply.

After getting that issue I installed the latest version of JRE which is 1.6.0_21 and tried the install again but again got the same error. The error occured when trying to install the SAP Database MaxDB.

This is the actual error found in the log:

ProductException: (error code = 601; message="An Error happened during call of MaxDB Tool sdbinst. Check end of Logfile C:/DOCUME1/ADMINI1/LOCALS~1/Temp/MaxDBSAPNWPREV.log")

When I go and check the log for MaxDBSAPNWPREV.log and I get the following:

Wed Sep 15 19:49:11 PDT 2010 MaxDB: Start SoftwareCheck

Wed Sep 15 19:49:11 PDT 2010 MaxDB: IndepProgPath:

Wed Sep 15 19:49:11 PDT 2010 MaxDB: IndepDataPath:

Wed Sep 15 19:49:11 PDT 2010 MaxDB: Software doesn't exist, Variable MAXDB_SOFTW_EXISTS set to NO

Wed Sep 15 19:49:11 PDT 2010 MaxDB: end of Check Section!

Thu Sep 16 00:37:28 PDT 2010 MaxDB: Start SoftwareCheck

Thu Sep 16 00:37:28 PDT 2010 MaxDB: IndepProgPath: C:\sapdb\programs

Thu Sep 16 00:37:28 PDT 2010 MaxDB: IndepDataPath: C:\sapdb\data

Thu Sep 16 00:37:28 PDT 2010 MaxDB: Calling check for dbmcli

Thu Sep 16 00:37:28 PDT 2010 MaxDB: Software exists, Variable MAXDB_SOFTW_EXISTS set to YES

Thu Sep 16 00:37:28 PDT 2010 MaxDB: Calling check for existent database instances

Thu Sep 16 00:37:28 PDT 2010 MaxDB waiting for :"C:\sapdb\programs/pgm/dbmcli.exe" db_enum:

Thu Sep 16 00:37:29 PDT 2010 MaxDB: These database instances already exists =

Thu Sep 16 00:37:29 PDT 2010 MaxDB: End of SoftwareCheck!

Note: my first attempt to install minisap was on Sep 15 then I tried again on Sep 16.

Hope this info may be helpful.

Thanks

Hi Lenny;

Iu2019m afraid you got the wrong version of JRE, should get version 1.4.2, please do not get later than this.

According to the log u201Cu2026 These database instances already existsu201D, Look like you have to uninstall the MaxDB (Software Life-Cycle Options). Then Try to install again.
