Hello, I got here via "Getting started" - so not sure if this is the right place to ask.

I want to get started with PHP/Python RFC module, not really any ABAP/Netweaver development.

I got ABAP Netweaver 701SR12008 Installation Master, and installed sapinst.

sapinstgui now gives me an error:

"Specify the environment variable JCE_POLICY_ZIP and restart.

See also SAP note 1238121."

I did google for "SAP note 1238121". However this did not help much, as I get redirected to diverse download locations (http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/sap-gui#section30, http://service.sap.com/swdc) where my exisitng account doesn't seem to authenticate me.

Can anyone advise?

The JCE_POLICY_ZIP (Java Cryptography Extension - JCE) is for the SSL Communication between the GUI backend and remote frontend. This is usually needed during an installation of SAP or upgrade/Enhancement pack. Also perhaps during support packs. Depending on your enviroment you need the correct one and of course an ID to download them from SAP Service Marketplace.

You might want to look at Note 1240081 as well to possibly assist you more.

This probably is the incorrect forum to be asking as this is more for issues pertaining to the Frontend SAP GUI.

You may find more information from individuals in a forum under SAP Netweaver or Application Server.
