item category not defined for the material error

Hi friends,

We have a scenario where we enter a material which should be as text material.For this we have cretaed a material which has item category as NORM. and we have also maintained the item category assignment

ZSO1 NORM TAN ZOWN ZHIR ZADD

ZSO1 NORM TEXT TATX

Still when we create a sales order we are getting the error as "Item category TATX is not defined for this item"

when we see the F4 help we see only TAN,ZOWN,ZHIR,ZADD,TAW & DSI.we dont know froem where the item categories TAW & DSI are determined.

we require the TATX item catergory to be determined.

Hi,

Go to item categories in the spro screen and in that item category determination and go to new entriest and you will get the following screen with fields

sd.typeitem cate.groupusagehigher lvl item cat.default item category.

fill up the necessary fields as in ur case for eg

ornorm++Tatx, ur requirement will be fulfilled in the sales document.

thanks for your reply.

As suggested as you see that the determination as been maintained already.Please suggest if any thing else do be done as we get the same error and just wanted to know How the TAW and DSi item catergories are seen in F4 help as the asign item categories screen has only four manual item cat fields.

Please use T Code VOV4 - select the row which you need to work on and double click on that row. It will birng up to the screen where you can see all item categories assigned to Ord Type / Item Category Group....etc. Here you need to add TATX if your text item has NORM as the item category group.

Normally NLAG should be used as item category group for text items and may be you have a valid reason to use NORM for text item.
