Universe Designer for newbie

Hi,

i'm new to BO. I'm familiar with data bases but not with BO.

Now i'd like to work with Universe Designer (i want to be BO developer). Can i install BO trial version to my laptop in order to learn creating universes? (for example from MS Access DB or OLAP CUBE).

Or just powerful server needed for study? (universe designer + web intelligence)

Thanx.

And can i install it BO Edge to Windows 7?

Or only Windows XP or Windows 2003?

Thanx.

Some have tried on Windows 7 with errors during installation, whereas some have actually said to install it successfully.

Since you are interested in trying out the product, it'll be safer for you to install it on Windows XP/2003. You can avoid unnecessary installation headaches. Do this via virtualization eg. VirtualBox if you would like to retain your current OS.

Hi,

You can download the Universe Designer guides from http://help.sap.com

In this site, select "SAP Business Objects" tab, select "All products" link, in the product selection combobox select "Universe Designer". It will list the guides.

Trial version is always sufficient if you are experimenting.
