Hello everyone,
I just started learning SAP HR- Payroll part .
I was wondering how are the wage types starting with /'s are used? and what are they used for?
I read what they're about on SAP, SPRO but of course it's not easy to learn them without actually using them.
Am I able to customize them or are they stable wage types?
Thanks a lot.

In the SAP system there are two main categories:
> Primary or dialog wage types
>Secondary or technical wage types
In the standard delivered SAP HR system you can find many sample wage types both dialog (codes starting with letter eg. Mxxx) and technical ones. Customer defined dialog wage type codes must start with digit. You can recognize technical wage types as they have a slash (/)as the first character in the code name.

Yes you can copy Model wage types that provided by SAP , give the name that you want, give the specification that you required , and use in payroll ( PU30 is the transaction code for wagetype copier)

Hi Bali,
The most important part about / Wagetypes is most of them are related to Statutory laws and deduction of a country , thus SAP delievers them in standard and as Statutory amounts shoould not be modified, / Wagetypes are not modified.
4 Categories :
1.Statutory
Example :
India PF : /3f1, /3f2./3f3...
LWF: /3W1,W2...
2.Tax :
Income tax -/450...../4*
3. Bank Transfer-netpay-/5*
4. Cumulation bases: They form the basis of a calculation
/111- Cumulation PF PF Basis , based on the PF Base PF gets calculated, similarly /114..

Prabha

Technical WTs (/xxx) should not be modified as they are maintained by SAP, but you can create your own in some special ranges (eg.: /190 to /199, /Z00 to /Z99, and more).
